CBS Declines To Order More Episodes Of Wisdom Of The Crowd

CBS has decided not to give a back-order for their freshman series Wisdom of the Crowd. The crime drama will be wrapping up their initial 13-episode order in the next couple of weeks, the decision had been delayed until almost the last possible moment. Nine episodes have aired so far and the final four will continue to air in their Sunday night slot.

Three additional scripts had been ordered to keep the writer's room going while the decision was being made, but they will not be filmed.   The reason for the delay and possible decline likely stems for a recent investigation started by CBS into allegations of sexual harassment against star Jeremy Pivens. The actor has denied any allegations against him, but more and more women have continued to come forward, the most recent being over the Thanksgiving break an Entourage extra claimed Pivens sexually assaulted her in 2009.

The premise for Wisdom of the Crowd features Pivens as a tech billionaire who sells his company to launch a new venture that fights crime using crowdsourcing. The show got a series order after testing well back in May, but it has only been a modest performer in the Sunday at 8 PM slot even following the boost from the NFL late games every other week. The series debuted with a 0.98 rating with adults 18-49 and got a 0.90 rating last night. Though not great, it is above the normal cancellation point of 0.70 rating that is usually the cutoff point.

As for their other new series, CBS gave full-season pickups to Young Sheldon and S.W.A.T., ordered 3 more episodes of 9JKL and pulled the plug on Me, Myself & I.
