Drew Carey, currently the host of The Price is Right, will be making a guest appearance on the network's most popular drama series NCIS. The comedian/actor/host will play a retired Marine Sergeant named John Ross who ships care packages to active-duty servicemen every day. When one of those packages is found to have cyanide laced into the cookies, Ross becomes the prime suspect for murder. But the loyal and honorable veteran is determined to help Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and his team find the real killer and clear his own name.

In the casting announcement, co-showrunners Frank Cardea and George Schenck said:

With the casting of John Ross, a retired Marine, we needed an actor who could play the outgoing, passionate side of the character but also the dark reality that he is still haunted from being a prisoner of war for many years. We are thrilled to have Drew Carey, who served in the Marine Reserves, as a Marine portray this complex role and look forward to fans seeing him in this powerful and heart-warming episode.

Carey has been the host of CBS's The Price is Right since 2007, taking over for the retired Bob Barker. Prior to that he starred in his own long-running sitcom, The Drew Carey Show, and hosted the improv comedy series Whose Line Is It Anyway?.
