Legends of Tomorrow Season 3: Will Someone Leave the Waverider Tonight?

With the announced renewal of DC's Legends of Tomorrow for a fourth season, they also announced that Matt Ryan and Jes Macallan were being promoted to series regulars. Ryan plays John Constantine, a role he started playing on the short-lived NBC series then carried over to the Arrowverse, and who has made three appearances already with another coming up in the season finale. Macallan plays Ava Sharpe, who is currently the head of the Time Bureau and is in a complicated relationship with Sara (Caity Lotz)… but then again, how else would you describe a time-travelling assassin back from the dead dating the clone head of… whatever you would call the Time Bureau?

But with two new series regulars, the odds are we're going to be losing someone too. Executive Producer Phil Klemmer verified that while talking to TVLine:

It does, it does. There's heartbreak in the finale. A Legend leaves.

They ask specifically about Nate (Nick Zano) and Amaya (Maisie Richardson-Sellers):

As far as her and Nate, I don't know if love is made to last in the world of the Legends.

It does seem like Amaya's story has come full circle, and at some point she'll have to go back and be the protector of her people. It could very easily be her or it could be Nate going off heartbroken. I think Sara and Ray (Brandon Routh) are safe, and I think Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) and Zari (Tala Ashe) are safe as they are both newcomers. Mick (Dominic Purcell) could leave as they have scaled his role back quite a bit, and there's talk of more Prison Break… but he is such a unique factor on the team that letting him leave would be a mistake. The first two season finales of Legends have set up the next season, I'm guessing we'll get some of that here too.

Legends of Tomorrow's season finale airs tonight at 8 p.m. ET on the CW.
