[OP-ED] Disney+ Doesn't Mean Netflix Is Suddenly in Trouble

For those who may have stayed away from social media this weekend, Disney's D23 convention was held over this weekend and their new service Disney+ took center stage. If you happen to miss out on any of the news from this event, go back and check out the extensive coverage at Bleedingcool.com.  While understandably the world was abuzz with the idea of original programing rangling from She-Hulk to an original Christmas movie starring Anna Kendrick and Bill Hader on top of Disney's extensive library all being in one place, some fans are of course jumping the gun.

It seems that the growing consensus is that somehow Disney will just wipe out their competition, becoming the leader in streaming entertainment. Hold on! While it does seem like they own everything,  their content won't be enough to take down an established streaming giant. This tweet captures things beautifully.

We live in a world where there's plenty of room for both Netflix and Disney+, but one has to wonder if this is the beginning of the end for network programming. We live in an ala carte world and don't want to be bogged down by rules. The world craves choice and these outlets provide it. There's more than enough room for both outlets to thrive based on what each offers.
