Richard Pryor: Kenya Barris Bio Project Now 10-Episode Limited Series

Kenya Barris shared some additional details on his Richard Pryor biopic project, which is now become a 10-episode limited series.

Richard Pryor will be the subject of a ten-episode series from creator Kenya Barris. The project was originally going to be a feature film, but it sounds like it has expanded quite a bit in scope. In a new update with Variety, Barris had quite a bit to say about the project, which is being worked on as we speak. "It's a 10-part limited biographical series that takes a look from cradle to grave. From his earliest upbringing — he grew up in a ho house, or a house of ill repute — and became, at one point, the biggest star in the world."

The Definitive Look At Richard Pryor

Barris continued: "It is my baby. I love it. He is my comedy god. A super flawed guy, but who everything, to this day, the comedy that we remember — even including [Dave] Chappelle — is derivative of what he started. That honest, reflecting, observational look at what the world is and the differences between us that actually make us more similar than we are apart. I think telling his story and letting people see things that they didn't know about him is something that I'm super excited to bring to life."

Barris has to be the best possible choice for this, as he is one of the finest comedy minds working in the town right now and clearly feels very passionate about telling the story of another of the greatest comedy minds ever. This is not his only project in the works though, Barris is a busy man. He is also working on a remake of The Wizard of Oz, as well as a remake of It's A Wonderful Life. Hopefully, his being so busy doesn't mean that we have to keep waiting for this series to be put in front of our eyeballs. More to come on this one for sure.
