Stephen Amell Hints at "Fun" CW Announcement Tomorrow
While at the Heroes and Villains Fan Fest in Nashville, Arrow star Stephen Amell had a panel where he mentioned that he was in possession of some "fun" information that The CW really didn't want out before their Upfronts presentation on Thursday. What could that information be? Honestly, it could be anything… but I do have a few guesses that seem to at least be possible.
Here is what Amell said according to SpoilerTV:
I'm gonna be in New York on Thursday for The CW's Upfronts. And I get to make a really fun announcement. And The CW is just so freaked out that I'm going to spoil it at some point during this panel.
Now, the obvious thing he could be talking about is plans for the new season, and we've already guessed that they'll be doing a version of the Green Arrow: Escape from Supermax screenplay. With that there could be the announcement of upcoming characters that will appear, as the story would need quite a few villains to work. This could open up Arrowverse to a slew of new characters and borrow some from The Flash.
But there are some other possibilities to consider.
The might be ready to introduce Batman to DCTV. They've hinted at him, name dropped him, and acknowledged he existed at least on Supergirl's Earth. And while the character seems to be off-limits, Superman was once as well and he popped up in season 2 of Supergirl.
They could also be bringing in other heroes like the hinted-at Hal Jordan/Green Lantern or the one Marc Guggenheim always wanted, The Question.
It could be the return of a character like John Barrowman as Malcolm Merlyn or Manu Bennett as Slade Wilson. Or maybe Cody Rhodes is coming back to the show.
How about a possible crossover with Black Lightning… even if they keep talking about it not being part of the Arrowverse. Or that Black Lightning will be part of the next crossover event.
Or maybe they're going to let Kevin Smith write or direct and episode and bring in the villain he created, Onomatopoeia.
Whatever the announcement is, the timing may be the most interesting as The CW's Upfronts presentation takes place tomorrow morning, prior to the Arrow season finale. So if the announcement is about what is happening next season, Amell may be telling us spoilers tomorrow.
