The Witcher Halts Season 2 Prod After "Multiple" Positive COVID Tests

Only days after The Witcher star Henry Cavill (Geralt) revealed that production on the second season was moving from on location to studio work ahead of England's planned COVID lockdown, multiple confirmed COVID cases on Saturday have resulted in work being halted for the second time since it began. Deadline Hollywood reports exclusively that those who tested positive have been isolated and not among the lead cast. The streaming service is moving ahead on an isolated round of testing on everyone involved in the production, with filming at Arborfield Studios, west of London, expected to resume once Netflix is confident that health and safety levels are maintained.

Netflix's The Witcher season 2 welcomes Kristofer Hivju (Game of Thrones) as Nivellen, Kim Bodnia (Killing Eve) as Vesemir, Yasen Atour (Young Wallender) as Coen, Agnes Bjorn as Vereena, Paul Bullion (Peaky Blinders) as Lambert, Aisha Fabienne Ross (The Danish Girl) as Lydia, and newcomer Mecia Simson as Francesca. Stephen Surjik (Netflix's The Umbrella Academy) has been tapped to direct the season's first two episodes, with Sarah O'Gorman (Cursed) directing the third and fourth episodes, Ed Bazalgette (The Last Kingdom) directing the 5th and 8th episodes, and Geeta Patel (Meet the Patels) will direct the 6th and 7th episodes.
