The Walking Dead's David Morrissey Signs on to Good Omens
The Walking Dead and Doctor Who alum David Morrissey has joined the cast of Amazon's upcoming adaptation of the Neil Gaiman / Terry Pratchett novel Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch. Morrissey will play Captain Vincent of the pleasure cruiser Morbilli.
The news broke when Douglas Mackinnon, the series director, tweeted a photo of himself and Morrissey yesterday, then Gaiman retweeted the post today. This reunites Morrissey with David Tennant from when they worked together on the 2010 episode of Doctor Who called The Next Doctor.
Good Omens takes place in 2018 as the world is fast approaching the final judgement and the apocalypse is around the corner. The series follows Crowley (Tennant), a demon who likes to live life fast and hard, and his frenemy Aziraphale (Michael Sheen), a somewhat fastidious angel, who don't really seem all that keen on the divine plan and the destruction of humanity and the upcoming war between good and evil. The cast also includes Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Adria Arjona (Emerald City), Michael McKean (Better Call Saul), Nina Sosanya (Love Actually), and Ned Dennehy (Peaky Blinders).
Morrissey's character doesn't appear much in the novel. After finding that the lost city of Atlantis has returned, he runs his ship aground.
Good Omens is set to be a six-part series from Amazon and BBC.
