Before WrestleMania 34, We Revisit an Old AJ Styles/Shinsuke Nakamura Match

One of the highlights of this year's WrestleMania 34 is without a doubt the WWE Title match between AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura. Both wrestlers are extremely gifted, as proven every week on SmackDown Live. And while this is indeed a dream match between two of WWE's top performers, this isn't the first time the two have met.

AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura

Most of you are well aware of New Japan Pro Wrestling. Arguably one of the most popular companies outside of the WWE, NJPW has helped shape the careers of many talented and inspiring wrestlers — two of which were Shinsuke Nakamura and AJ Styles. The King of Strong Style (who held the IWGP Intercontinental Championship at the time) and the former leader of The Bullet Club met up for their very first singles (and title) match at Wrestle Kingdom 10 in 2016. New Japan recently posted the match in its entirety on YouTube, and I sincerely urge you to go watch it. These two are at their best in this match, and it really gives you an idea as to what's to come Sunday.

While I feel as though WWE has done an alright job with hyping up this match, nothing has made me more excited than watching this. Both men are on their A game in this match, creating an exciting and dramatic match that any wrestling fan can get into. The upcoming match on Sunday will undoubtedly be as dramatic and exciting like this one. If Nakamura focuses on Styles's back again, he could maintain the upper hand. But then again, Styles could wise up and counter those attacks as well. In the end I think Nakamura will win, but I also wouldn't be upset if Styles retained his title. Here's hoping this WrestleMania match delivers!
