Greg Baldino's C2E2 Report #7 – From The Coal Face Of Comics

Greg Baldino's C2E2 Report #7 – From The Coal Face Of ComicsGreg Baldino continues to report for Bleeding Cool from the floor of C2E2.

Chicago Comics is a local comics shop with a big focus on self-published and alternative comics. Stop by their booth to pick up zine-comics by Delia Hickey and Not-the-Dead-Scottish-Poet Robert Burns C2E2 debut of Brutally Frank #1.

Jerry Ma and Ken Knudtsen of Epic Proportion had a lot of good things to say about C2E2. "They've been treating the artists really well," says Ma whose work includes the Asian American superhero anthology Secret Identies. Knudtsen, creator of My Monkey's Name is Jennifer, cited the banner signs identifying the aisles and the events carpeting as further bonuses to the quality of the event. Eic Proportions has both of the above books for sale, as well as t-shirt including a Geof Darrow t-shirt unveiled just for this event.

Greg Baldino's C2E2 Report #7 – From The Coal Face Of ComicsOver in webcomics junction, Joe Hills (not Joe HILL, Joe HILLS- don't ask him what it's like being Stephen King's son), a writer and artist for the creative ensemble Team Snowday has a special preview book of some of the best of their online strips called Laugh at Us, as well as buttons and t-shirts. You can also find PVP creator Scott Kurtz, who's selling Skull the Troll plushies and collections of his online strip, including the completist tome Awesomology collecting almost all of the PVP strips.

Keeping up with the C2E2 cephalopod motif started by Ben Templesmith, Erika Moen's got some tenta-classy art to go along with the first volume of her collected online diary strips DAR! Volume One. You can also check out the second book and preorder it right at her booth, as well as check out Drawn to You, her collaboration with booth buddy Lucy Knisley. Knisley's selling her books French Milk and Make Yourself Happy, as well as doing original watercolor sketches for $20.
