The Destiny Of Dexter Morgan?

This is the end. The series finale of Dexter is only a few episodes away. So what will happen to Dexter, Deb and some of our other favorites from Miami? There's still a possibility of a spinoff series, so anything could happen in the end. The big possibilities: Dexter could…

  • ..Get caught and end up in jail.
  • ..Escape and make a run for it.
  • ..Not make it out of the final episode alive.

So, how could all of this go down?

Dex and Deb

If Dexter were to get caught, there'd be no escaping jail. According to the Dexter Kill List, Dex is up to more than 130 kills (with a few more episodes still left this season). Even with (most of) those kills being bad people who meet Harry's Code, Dexter would still be likely to get the death penalty under Florida law. If not, he'd surely spend life in jail with for countless kills, breaking and entering, tampering with evidence and more.

Dexter and Deb are so close again, likely leading to Dexter's demise. They're so intertwined right now that if one's in trouble, the other is too.

Ultimately, Dex will likely find himself in a situation where he has to either save Deb by sacrificing himself, or where he could escape at her expense. In the end, he'd likely surrender himself to keep Deb out of harm's way. Or, Deb could get into a dangerous situation – maybe with Hannah McKay – that could lead to Dexter having to save her.

Since the end of last season, Deb's been getting herself into plenty of trouble on her own. There's a high chance she could get caught for her own crimes, landing her in jail. And if Dexter were to get caught, she'd be in trouble for hiding his deadly secret.

Batista, Quinn, Jamie and Harrison have all endured so many ups and downs (usually because of Dexter) over the seasons. In a perfect world, all of them would make it through the season unharmed.

Batista's been working so hard at his job ever since LaGuerta was killed last season – but hopefully not too hard. If someone like Batista were to find out about Dexter, it'd be a mess. Batista, Quinn and everyone else at Miami Metro are all too nice and too naïve about Dex to realize who he really is. It would take a huge change or a giant mistake on Dexter's part for Batista to discover the real Dexter.

But if something were to happen to someone, and if someone in Miami were to discover the secret, it would most likely be Quinn. Though Quinn's not known for being the best detective in Miami, after seeing Dexter with Zach Hamilton, he might start questioning Dexter's motives and wondering what he's always up to. Just like good old Doakes, getting too close to Dex could lead to Quinn's ultimate downfall.

If the writers and producers of Dexter have souls at all, nothing bad will happen to Harrison. We've seen Dexter's son in danger because of his father too many times already. We can only hope Jamie will be around for the remainder of the season to keep an eye on Harrison…
