batman31This is probably the scene that sums up the Zero Year storyline more than ever. Taking the origin of Batman and reinventing it with Killing Joke colours. Making it as mad as the maddest storyline from the sixties or seventies. This is hairy chest Batman with a medallion, while still centred on the trauma that changed a man into a bat.

It's Batman fighting a lion, folks.

Or, indeed, lions.

After burning its face off. Or, maybe half its face. No one tell PETA.

Say, you don't think we have the origin of a new pet for Harvey Dent do we?

Mind you, Batman seems to have had a torso shave for Nightwing #30, also out today.
