TNA's Impact Wrestling Returns To UK TV On Spike Starting April 21
Beleaguered pro wrestling organization TNA will be making its triumphant return to the airwaves in the UK in April, as the company has signed a new deal with Spike UK, according to a press release. Beginning April 21, episodes of Impact Wrestling will air on Friday nights, a day after they're originally broadcast in the US. However, UK fans that have been missing the promotion since its previous TV deal ended in January could find the company almost unrecognizable.
Following the takeover by new management at Anthem Sports & Entertainment and the return of country musician Jeff Jarrett to a major creative role, wrestlers have been fleeing the company like rats from a sinking ship. This week alone, the company has lost Matt and Jeff Hardy, Drew Galloway, Mike Bennet and Maria, and Jade. The departures are believed to be the result of new rules in contracts Anthem is trying to get all of its wrestler to sign, which reportedly include clauses that give the company control over the wrestlers' outside bookings and a 10% of all profits made outside the organization, and which also change payouts from a per-show basis, where TNA records multiple episodes of Impact Wrestling on a single day, to per appearance payouts.
For UK readers, here's a blurb from the press release that will likely make a lot more sense to you than it does to us:
From Spring 2017, IMPACT Wrestling, TNA pay-per-views, including One Night Only specials will be available on Spike UK, and TNA Xplosion exclusive to My5, which is part of the Channel 5 stable available on Sky TV (160), Freeview (31), Freesat (141), Virgin Media (154) and other DTT platforms.
It's unknown at this time whether UK viewers will be able to take advantage of Jeff Jarrett's fantastic deal on gold karatbars.
