The Spanish Foresee the End for Black Bolt

Yesterday, Bleeding Cool ran a number of rumours about the current and upcoming comics Marvel may – or may not be – publishing.

Well, here's one that seems to have been instantly scotched. We ran the rumour that the Black Bolt series was surviving against the sales odds, a favourite of many at Marvel as various staff members did their best to justify keeping the series going, especially in the light of a sudden paucity of Inhumans titles at the moment

Black Bolt #8

It's written by sci-fi writer Saladin Ahmed and drawn/painted by Christian Ward, who has been one of Marvel's brightest lights of late, and also draws Ody-C.

What on earth are we thinking? We know Marvel too well, there's no room for sentiment.

Panini, the Italian publisher that license Marvel Comics all across the world for localised versions seem to have given the game away. Telling their readers, in their advance planning for 2018 that Black Bolt, or as they have it, Rayo Negro, is a 12-issue volume containing "the whole series", calling it "sadly ephemeral".

That's a bit much, no?

"…Rayo Negro. Su importancia en el resto del Universo Marvel ha fluctuado como lo ha hecho la popularidad de su raza, y cuando finalmente ha conseguido su propia colección, ésta ha resultado desgraciadamente efímera. El tomo 100% Marvel con los 12 números de su aventura en solitario estará disponible en agosto."

Oddly, Google Translate tells me that Rayo Negro means Black Lightning. That's not going to get confusing at all.

UPDATE: I get schooled:

Oh and we knew that Deadpool is known as "Masacre" in Spanish, giving us the Spanish Deadpool character Masacre. And no I have no idea how that was translated back into Spanish. But that means that the character Gwenpool, whose book has also been cancelled, is known as Masacre-Gwen. Which might actually be an improvement.
