World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth Is Coming This Summer
Blizzard has revealed the release window of World of Warcraft's upcoming expansion, Battle for Azeroth.
When Battle of Azeroth was announced at BlizzCon last year, it really grabbed my attention. Doing away with some big new earth-ending threat, and instead having a focus brought back to the core of the original concept, Alliance vs Horde. It might not be the newest idea, but it feels like the right time to bring the series back to its roots. Understandably, there is some real buzz around the expansion too, which last night went on pre-sale, inducing massive queues for buyers.
However, an important detail came out of this, a release window. Blizzard revealed the expansion will be making its way to us sometime in Summer 2018. That means it's not that long to go until fans will be able to hop into the wars. The other expansions for the game have come out at different times of the year from Summer to late on, but the last one, Legion, landed in August. That would definitely track with a "summer" release window.
As I said, you can pre-order now. It went a bit wild last night as people went in to buy the game, only to be met with huge lines to get their copy and digital goods that come with them. You can pick it up yourself here. It seems demand is high at the moment, and the enduring popularity of World of Warcraft is still evident. It really is quite amazing how a game can elicit such a demand nearly fifteen years after release. Legion was pretty great though, so here's hoping Battle For Azeroth lives up to that.
