Dan Slott Applies to Trademark a Comic Book Called 'Future Me'

Comic book writer Dan Slott, currently working on Spider-Geddon, Tony Stark: Iron Man and Fantastic Four, has registered an application for a trademark for the term 'Future Me'.

Using the well known comic book industry lawyer Michael L. Lovitz of Lovitz IP Law in Hollywood, the registration has been applied to cover 'Downloadable comic books, comic strips and graphic novels via the internet and wireless devices…  Comic books; Comic magazines; Comics; Graphic novels'

I spoke to Dan Slott and while he naturally wouldn't confirm anything else about it, he did confirm that he had trademarked the term.

From this, I would assume that Dan Slott is to write a creator-owned comic book called Future Me, hence the trademark claim. It suggests a high concept comic book concerning time travel, meeting your future self and all the comedy hijinks that may ensue. Dan has written quite a lot of time travel stories in comics and is a keen fan of Doctor Who, a character who regular meets their future selves, so this would seem to fit into that spirit. But this is all my own assumption of course, no more.

Either way, it's enough for me to bin my own nebulous plans for a comic that I had mostly written the first issue of, Your Future Husband, a love triangle between two people (seriously). Can't compete with The Slott…
