Remastered Cerebus, Now On ComiXology
It wouldn't be the first time Cerebus has been on ComiXology. Cerebus In Hell and individual issues of Cerebus: High Society have been offered before. But, as of today, the first Cerebus phonebook Cerebus featuring the remastered pages from the recent print editions is on ComiXology at a very reasonable price point.
Cerebus remains a high point in the comic book industry in terms of art, of storytelling, of using the comics medium as a storytelling device, even as the creator took what some may call greater and greater divergences from mainstream perspectives and what others would call going batshit crazy.
Nevertheless, Cerebus remains a fascinating comic book to read, to study, to learn from. And High Society is regarded as Cerebus as its peak, taking the world of Conan The Barbarian and imposing on it the order of politics, of civilisation, or trying to take the human condition and tame it, put a muzzle on it and saddle it. Of course, decades later, we'll discover that was all the fault of women.
And coincidentally, this is also the day that Marvel Comics publishes Conan The Barbarian #1, which we talked about earlier this week, and how it was impossible to read the new Conan comic without thinking of Cerebus The Aardvark.
What a handy coincidence. Hoping High Society and Church & State come next.
Cerebus Vol. 1
Intellectual, entertaining, and though-provoking, Cerebus was the longest running independent black and white comic of all time! This edition also includes a lavishly-illustrated 6,000 word essay on the history of Cerebus, contextualizing this monumental work for current and future readers.
