Aquaman 2 to be Written by Frequent James Wan Collaborator David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick
To the surprise of exactly no one, Warner Bros. and DC are looking to make lightning strike twice. Aquaman has gone on to be the biggest movie in the DC universe and now has a spin-off and a sequel in the works. When it comes to the sequel, no one wants to rock the boat and make any huge changes. That's probably the right way to go about doing things, which is why they are bringing back some familiar faces. According to Deadline, David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick has been brought on to write Aquaman 2.
Johnson-McGoldrick co-wrote the first movie with Will Beall and is a frequent collaborator with director James Wan. Wan has not decided if he is coming back to direct the second entry in the series, but hiring Johnson-McGoldrick seems like a good way to bring him back.
Aquaman has grossed over a billion dollars at the worldwide box office and is still bringing in decent numbers in its eighth week of release. At the moment we don't know any other details about Aquaman 2, but considering that box office take we can assume it just shot to the top of the list. We'll be seeing this one sooner rather than later.
Summary: Arthur Curry learns that he is the heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, and must step forward to lead his people and to be a hero to the world.
Aquaman is directed by James Wan, stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, Patrick Wilson, Willem Dafoe, and is in theaters now.
