"Terminator: Dark Fate": On August 29th, Official Trailer, Poster Became Self-Aware

At midnight on Friday, Paramount Pictures released the official trailer and final poster for Terminator: Dark Fate.

The film is particularly noteworthy in that it marks the return of Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor for the first time since Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Producer James Cameron said he wanted to take the series back to the basics of the first two movies. This erases Rise of the Machines, Salvation and Genisyis from continuity. Terminator: Dark Fate will be a direct sequel to Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Arnold Schwarzenegger returns as a T-800 terminator and Edward Furlong will return as John Connor.

James Cameron is Back!

Earlier in the day, Cameron told Deadline,

"One of the things that seemed obvious from looking at the films that came along later was that we would need to get everything back to the basics and that we would need to avoid the mistakes of making things overly complex and that we needed to avoid stories that jumps around in time and one that goes backward and forward in time. Let's keep it simple in the relative unity of time. With the story, let's have the whole thing play out in 36 hours or 48 hours. In the first two movies everything plays out in less than two days in each one so there's energy and momentum."

Cameron and director Tim Miller assembled a writer's room to work out the story for the new movie. The team included Josh Friedman, who created the TV series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, David S. Goyer, Justin Rhodes and Billy Ray.

Hamilton (Sarah Connor) and Schwarzenegger (T-800) return to their iconic roles, directed by Tim Miller (Deadpool) and produced by visionary filmmaker James Cameron and David Ellison. Following the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Terminator: Dark Fate also stars Mackenzie Davis, Natalia Reyes, Gabriel Luna, and Diego Boneta.

Terminator: Dark Fate opens in theatres on November 1st.
