'Everything Happened' – Including the Proposal to Barbara Gordon – as Nightwing #68 Gets Closer to Dick Grayson

Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon had an on-again-off-again relationship for much of their storylines together. Indeed, a previous version of Batgirl was created to give Dick Grayson a little non-homosexually-themed definition in the wake of Dr Wertham's report, Seduction Of The Innocent, which condemned Batman as a homosexual fantasy, living with Robin.

And, at one point, they were engaged, Nightwing proposing to Batgirl. That was inexplicably broken off and then when the New 52 reboot came along, truncating storylines, it never happened at all.

Though it did get revisited in another dimension in Convergence – before being deleted again. But DC Rebirth brought a few things back, one of the overarching themes of the new DC Timeline and 5G is that 'everything happened'. With the amnesiac Ric Grayson getting a memory dump of events from across the decades.

And that, at least from today's Nightwing #68, includes Dick Grayson's proposal to Barbara Gordon…

Of course, these memories returning may be inconvenient for Ric Grayson's own current relationship…

But if everything happened… could everything happen again?
