'Bambi' Live Action Remake Coming From Captain Marvel Writer
Bambi will be the next live action update from Disney. Writers Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Chaos Walking) and Lindsey Beer (Captain Marvel) will write the screenplay. No word yet on a director or who may voice the characters. Also of note is that it is not yet known if this will be a theatrical release or straight to Disney+
The original movie, released in 1942, told the story of a young fawn named Bambi as he learns his place in the forest. With his two best friends, a rabbit named Thumper and a skunk named Flower, Bambi comes of age as he faces the joys and heartache — cue the loss of a parent — of growing up.
Look for this to be more like Dumbo or Lady & The Tramp in terms of scope, I highly doubt that they will put as much muscle behind Bambi as they did The Jungle Book or for sure The Lion King. Bambi joins The Little Mermaid and Peter Pan as the next in line for these live-action cgi hybrids of their classic animated films on the never-ending remake parade. While I have enjoyed most of them, the ones mostly involving animals have all been misses for me. Maybe this one will change my mind.
No release date for Bambi is known at this time.
