BC Mag FCBD 2013: Ten Comics That Could Change Your Life

Invisibles OmnibusBleeding Cool Magazine article by Rich Johnston

Are you ready for a comic that could change your life? These are the kind of stories that create obsessions, and not just about comics. These are the comics that change the way people see the rest of the world and each other. They create communities that bring people together and sometimes tear them apart. These are the comics that produce babies who are named after the characters and scar kids for life. And these comics don't just change life… they create it too.

The Invisibles by Grant Morrison et al.
More than any comic book published in recent years, this series of conspiracy-of-reality comics seems to have changed people's lives. They are tales of disaffected youth and the unveiling of true reality. It is the battle between the individualistic against the oppressive status quo and the evil creatures that maintain it. The Invisibles struck a solid nerve with many, made them re-examine their own life, have sex, take drugs, listen to better music, get better jobs, find more fulfilling partners and stop settling for what life pushed on them. The Barbelith community continues to this day and people are now reading The Invisibles… who wouldn't have even existed without the influence of The Invisibles.
