$7000 Penalty Fine For Every Copy Of Asterix And The Picts Sold Before The On Sale Date
Diamond Comic Distributors has some strictures when it comes to stores that sell comics before an embargo dates. Suspension of retailer privileges, that sort of thing.
Well stores that want to sell Asterix And The Picts in Germany, on its release later this month, have to sign up to a slightly different agreement (below). One that means that each store will pay almost $7000 for each copy of the volume that is sold before release date.
Often such embargo-breaking sales are down to incompetence or a lack of employee awareness. This kind of imposition may just put a stop to such "accidents". And with a German print run of between 1.6 million and 1.8 million, that's a lot of potential fines!
Man, $7000. These Germans are crazy! I wonder if Diamond will look for inspiration?
