A Comic Show: Paper Girls & All The Different Marvels!
Aaron Holland writes,
Hey Fandom! This is the best and biggest week of comics ever! If you don't walk out of a comic shop with a new book this week, you should probably stop calling yourself a comic fan. The best book in this overpopulated week is Paper Girls by BKV and Cliff Chiang. It's 40 pages for $2.99, and described as Stand By Me meets War of the Worlds. Think of what you bought the week Saga #1 came out instead of Saga, don't make that mistake again! BKV's We Stand On Guard #4, Lemire's Plutona #2, and the Jason's Southern Bastards #1, are also here. The other new Image #1's this week are Codename Babouskka, Saints, and Shane Davis' Axcend. We also have a ton of great Image collections out like Bitch Planet, Injection, Jupiter's Circle, Deadly Class, Outcast, and The Walking Dead Compendium 3!
In independent comics, Garth Ennis' new "A Train Called Love" is a romance book. The final Space Riders crashed into the shop. Zdardsky's Jughead is Riverdale's best humorist. Ben McCool writes Grumpy Cat. And I have another volume of Lumerjanes to read my daughter.
Marvel has a slew of All New All Different Marvel starts as well as Secret Wars#6! Amazing Spider-Man, Invincible Iron Man, Avengers, Contest of Champions, and Doctor Strange dropped. Also, the All New All Different Point One opening salvo was shot. We have our first Hip Hop covers. Almost all the Star Wars book ship this week as well as the first two collections.
And DC's Batman & Robin Eternal is exactly what I want in a Bat family book: all the Robins! Sure DC's been hit and miss, but Snyder run book, including the last Batman Eternal have been rock solid.
