All-New All-Different Avengers Quit For The Champions – A Name Marvel Can Now Use Again (UPDATE)
Hepburn know the score.
Entertainment Weekly reports that, courtesy of Marvel PR, Mark Waid and Humberto Ramos are launching The Champions to follow on from All-New All-Different Avengers.
It will feature Ms Marvel, Miles Morales' Spider-Man, Nova, Amadeus Cho's The Hulk, Viv Vision and Tykelops – sorry Cyclops.
And yes, that's Viv Vision, daughter of The Vision in the current limited series that is rocking my world.
As for the name, The Champions, first used by Marvel in the seventies was blocked after Heroic Publishing trademarked the name for a role-playing game turned into comics.
Thus, the 2007 Marvel series had to be renamed The Order.
Marvel have sent me an official statement,
Marvel Comics and Heroic Publishing have entered into a joint agreement that will allow for the publication of a Marvel's CHAMPIONS comic book, while at the same time allowing Heroic to continue publishing its own line of separate CHAMPIONS and CHAMPIONS-related titles. We're pleased to have reached an agreement and wish Heroic Publishing the best in their future endeavors.
