Amazon And ComiXology To Continue Merging Of Procedures, Including Corporate Accounts
Bleeding Cool broke the news that Amazon would be buying ComiXology three weeks before it was announced. It has to be a contender for Scoop Of The Year.
Since then, ComiXology has dropped the In App purchasing ability, and brought in Amazon Pay as an option. But the next moves may be even more impactful.
Firstly, expect to see the Amazon Associate ability be applied to ComiXology purchase, which cold bring a new revenue stream to those who recommend digital comics to others.
But more importantly, I understand that Amazon is to merge its accounts with publishers and those held by ComiXology. And, as I understand it, the publisher deal with Amazon is far worse that with ComiXology.
So expect a lot of publishers looking for ways to break contracts or find alternative digital distribution.
Though others may decide that, with Amazon's dominant position in the market, and sales on the Kindle platform, they might just have to grin and bear it…
