An Anti-Hero Leaps Off The Page In Oh, Killstrike From Boom

Award-winning publisher BOOM! Studios is pleased to announce the May debut of Oh, Killstrike, the new tongue-in-cheek miniseries created and written by Say Anything frontman Max Bemis (Polarity, Evil Empire), with art by Logan Faerber. The creative team is combining talents to write a personal story that discusses the anxieties that come with being a new dad. Bemis' love of '90s superhero comics is sure to show in the story as well.

BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief, Matt Gagnon shared his thoughts on the new comic by saying:

When you combine Max's love letter to '90s comics with the same deeply personal storytelling that we saw with Polarity, Oh, Killstrike is what you get. This is a story that's hilarious, heartwarming, and will likely put a smile on the face of anybody who loves comics. Logan's artwork is spectacular—there's nobody better to bring Killstrike to life. We're so proud of this series; I genuinely can't wait for readers to get this into their hands!

The story focuses on Jared, a new father, that fears parenthood. As a long time comics fan, he turns to them for comfort, not expecting to release his favorite character, Killstrike from the pages into the modern world. Now Jared mut find a way to send him back before he harms all of the people he loves. While Killstrike is a single-minded, vengeance-loving antihero, he manages to send Jared on a quest of self-discovery.

I don't know about you, but while this could be one of those "be careful what you wish for" storylines, I think it sounds absolutely incredible. Can you imagine sitting down to read one of your favorite comics, and bam, there's Harley Quinn standing in front of you? I can't wait to see the response to this new series. Oh, Killstrike #1 arrives in comic shops on May 20th with a main cover by series artist Logan Faerber. You can view the other covers below. The Final Order Cutoff deadline for retailers is April 27th.
