Skybound is an entertainment company founded in 2010 by Robert Kirkman and David Alpert, and is behind the comic, TV series, games, merchandise and now upcoming film versions of The Walking Dead, as originally created by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore, and continued with Kirkman and Charlie Adlard. Publishing through Image Comics, they now have a wide array of publications and spinoffs, such as Invincible, Outcast, Super Dinosaur, Oblivion Song, Fire Power, Birthright, Redneck, Skyward, Extremity, Manifest Destiny, Clementine and more, as well as original movies and TV shows. They are also publishing the Energon Universe books of Transformers, GI Joe, Cobra Commander, Duke and Void Rivals.

Yes, Image/Skybound Want To Be New Publishers Of GI Joe & Transformers

What Ben Abernathy will be doing at Skybound, I have no idea. Motion comics? Batman Vs Transformers? We will wait to find out. But considering that given his experience at the publisher, Ben Abernathy wou;d most likely have been on a tidy sum at DC Comics, Robert Kirkman's folks will have had to have dug deep to get him.

Ben Abernathy has worked in comics since 1998 when he was an Assistant Editor at Dark Horse Comics, and has since worked mostly for DC Comics, with some time at Marvel Comics and founding the digital comic book publisher Madefire. He became Batman Group Editor in 2019, which began with his hiring of James Tynion IV and Jorge Jimenez on the series, and was also promoted to Executive Editor in late 2021.

There have been no responses to Bleeding Cool enquiries made to DC, Ben Abernathy or Skybound… yet.
