Brandon Sanderson Visits Utah For White Sand

There is the "new car" phenomenon where you don't really see a type of car very much, then you buy one and suddenly you see it everywhere. I'm having that with author Brandon Sanderson. A friend of mine introduced me to his work a few months back with the novel Mistborn. It is one of the truly unique takes on superpowers that I've ever come across. I really enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more of his work… which there is quite a bit of including the Wheel of Time books he wrote, finishing the series after Robert Jordan passed on.

After that there was the announcement I wrote up about Dynamite Entertainment doing a graphic novel based on his unpublished manuscript for White Sand. Then he was at the Phoenix Comicon last month where I got to meet him after the hall closed and take for a minute or two. And last week I discovered a kickstarter for a board game based on his novels.

So it shouldn't have surprised me to find an email this morning telling me about two signings Sanderson is doing this week in Utah and asking me to tell the BC readers about it. We hardly ever get to point out things going on in Utah, so here you go. If you are in West Jordan or Orem and like a good book, swing by one of the two locations below this week and meet the author. The White Sand graphic novel debuts in bookstores on Tuesday and in comic shops on Wednesday (Preview art below)
