Cosey Wins The Grand Prix At Angoulême, Will Be President For The Year To Come
From the three finalists of the Grand Prix at Angoulême, Chris Ware, Cosey and Larcenet, the voters have chosen Cosey, Swiss cartoonist best known for his long-running comic book series Jonathan.
Cosey, the pen-name for Bernard Cosendai was recently chosen to reinvent Mickey Mouse for Glenat, published in the US by IDW.
His response on hearing the news, loosely translated, was "I am, of course, extremely happy to receive the Grand Prix of the Angoulême Festival. It is a happy surprise, even if my name was already part of the final selection in previous years…. The fact that the authors themselves have awarded it to me honors me of course, but the value of this prize would have been equally important to me if the old Grands Prix committee had chosen me. I think, in fact, that every comic book author could only be delighted to be thus rewarded. This date will therefore remain a very big day for me. "
