DC Announces FCBD Titles: Wonder Woman (Reprint), Super Hero Girls (Preview)
Back in December, DC's Free Comic Book Day comics were still a secret, but that secret has been revealed today in an official press release. So DC's Free Comic Book Day titles will be…
WONDER WOMAN FCBD 2017 SPECIAL EDITION
(Writer) Greg Rucka, (Artist) Nicola Scott
New York Times best-selling writer Greg Rucka and fan-favorite artist Nicola Scott weave the definitive and shocking tale of Diana's first year as Earth's protector. Paradise has been breached, Ares stirs, and the Amazons must answer with a champion of their own…one who is willing to sacrifice her home amongst her sisters to save a world she has never seen. Wonder Woman's journey begins in this epic origin story!
DC SUPER HERO GIRLS FCBD 2017 SPECIAL EDITION
(Writer) Shea Fontana, (Artist) Yancey Labat
DC Super Hero Girls is an exciting new universe of superhero storytelling that builds character and confidence and empowers girls to discover their true potential. This special FCBD issue features an exciting, action-packed story from the upcoming original graphic novel DC SUPER HERO GIRLS: SUMMER OLYMPUS that readers of all ages will enjoy.
Each of the comics will be 32 pages long, to be released on Saturday, May 6.
For those keeping track, Wonder Woman Vol. 2: Year One, from which the Wonder Woman FCBD 2017 Special Edition is taken (collecting Wonder Woman #2, #4, #6, #8, and #10), will have been published on May 3, so this one serves as basically a free preview of that (if you didn't read the original comics).
Some people may complain, but remember, one of the main purposes of giving away these free comics should be to try to hook the elusive new reader, not provide new, free material for existing ones. You're already hooked, after all!
DC Super Hero Girls: Summer Olympus, which DC Super Hero Girls FCBD 2017 Special Edition previews, will be out on July 12.
In the press release, DC notes:
Retailers worldwide will be providing both of these comics to fans on Free Comic Book Day, including a possible Gold or Silver edition of Wonder Woman (check with your local comic book shop to confirm).
