From Superbad To Super-Bud

Super-Bud is about a small town, where an experimental strain of medical marijuana is leaked from an ominous pharmaceutical company. As the unstable strain spreads through the town it gives the people who come in contact with it special abilities. It's essentially the X-Men meets Half Baked.

While most "weed" related humor uses the plant as a plot device to identify characters or move along story, we try to use it as a stage to explore a subculture that is often generalised.

We attended Comic-con earlier in the month to promote Super-Bud. We always knew there would be an audience for the project, but we were pleasantly surprised at how many people were open to the story. We had a great time meeting new people and fans.

We (Mike & Tim) met in film school. After working in production for a number of years, we began to see the natural bridge between film and comics. When we came across Tim Lattie's artwork, we knew he was the artist for the book. We found a quick rhythm working on the project. Issue one was done only a few pages at a time and took over a year. We've opted to crowdsource the second issue to deliver it in less time.

It's currently on Kickstarter. The campaign will end on November 3rd, 2014.
