The Hargro Brothers and the Sisterhood of Science
Carlton and Darrick Hargro are 47 and 50-year-old brothers who are creating their own superhero line, with a black activist theme, under the banner 20th Place Media and art by Juan Baez and Manuel Avila.
Their three titles include Nia Griggs and the Kemetic Sisterhood of Science, a spy thriller depicting a "far from mild-mannered music journalist" who fights domestic terrorists and other villains as a super-powered Amazon.
Moses, with Moses Jones at the centre of a sci-fi mystery involving alien abduction, And Makossa, a detective who wears an African mask
The Atlanta Voice has featured the pair, and tracks the new publishing line back twenty years, when they published the comic Isis, about a black woman superhero. That name has a different connotation now… but they now have a line launched digitally on ComiXology, with Moses #0 for $1.99 while Nia Giggs #0 is 99 cents at Peep Game Comix.
