How Marvel Comics Will Encourage Retailers to Up Order on Powers Of X, House Of X and More

This is how Marvel Comics is goosing its upcoming launch numbers with added discounts if retailers order high on new launches compared to previous orders. What is the effect of these discounts? Well, it may increase sales. Some retailers will have already ordered at these numbers and will be very happy to revive the additional discount. Some retailers may look at ther numbers and realise that if they up their numbers by a handful of copies, they'll end up paying less money overall. And some retailers will discover that they could have sold more copies than they thought and will up orders on subsequent issues. Some will be minded to use the added copies for samplng purposes with their customers. And some retailers may think that Marvel knows best, order at the full discount and be stuck with a bunch of copies. But at least they won't have paid that much for them…
