Leah Williams Reveals the Truth About New Gwenpool Series: "Don't Trust the Solicit"
Tom King's Batman run may be the talk of comics Twitter today, but in our humble opinion the most exciting news announced today is that Leah Williams and David Baldeon will be creating a 5-issue Gwenpool mini-series at Marvel starting in August titled Gwenpool Strikes Back. You've got Williams coming off an excellent run on Age of X-Man: X-Tremists with artist Georges Jeanty which has turned into a tour de force in character exploration, particularly for Blob and Psylocke. You've got Baldeon coming off an equally excellent run on Domino with writer Gail Simone (though the future of Domino is the one bit of this news that has us worried). And you've got Gwenpool coming off a very entertaining West Coast Avengers series that ended far too soon.
But in case you were worried by the cover and solicit for Gwenpool Strikes Back #1 revealed earlier today, Williams had some reassuring words for Gwenpool fans on Twitter. The message: "dOnT tRuSt tHe SoLiCiT TeXt U GuYs!"
Additionally, Williams promised to treat Gwenpool with the respect she deserves in Gwenpool Strikes Back, making sure to take into account all of the Gwenpool's recent character development.
So if you had any concerns despite the fact that this is plainly wonderful news, hopefully Williams has eased them for you. Gwenpool Strikes Back #1 hits stores in August.

POOL'S OUT FOR SUMMER!
That's right — everyone's favorite comics-fan-turned-comics character is back, and this time, she's playing for keeps! Gwen Poole is desperate not to disappear into comic book limbo, so she's going to make an impact on the Marvel Universe! First up: Unmask Spider-Man! And heck, maybe see if she can get some real super-powers while she's at it!
First appearing on a variant cover for Deadpool's Secret Secret Wars #2, Gwenpool has become something of a cult character for Marvel. She received her own series, The Unbelievable Gwenpool, in 2016. That comic ran until 2018.
