Neil Gaiman, You, And A Blackberry – A Calendar Of Tales

It's not the best quote from Neil Gaiman. I prefer this one.

"Being a writer is a very peculiar sort of a job: it's always you versus a blank sheet of paper (or a blank screen) and quite often the blank piece of paper wins."

Because this new thing of Neil's is an attempt to fight back. With teamwork.

It's also a desperate attempt by Blackberry to try and regain its reputation as a Crackberry, be as cool as a mini iPad and as a result maybe grasp the ubiquity of Android, like it used to do.

Gaiman is asking readers of his to help him create a series of multi-media short stories. Maybe one of those media mentioned could be comics.

BlackBerry Keep Moving Projects will see Neil Gaiman ask for readers, through the Blackberry Keep Moving Hub and Twitter (I'd bet more people will use the latter) for inspiration regarding what he'll write about in "A Calendar Of Tales", one for each month of the year, written over a few weeks, for which, no doubt, Blackberry will pay him the GDP of a small Eastern European country. He will post his notes, his rafts and will interact with those who interact with him. Or, "reply" as it used to be known. And then you also get to illustrate them.

At a later date, a collected version of Calendar Of Tales will be sold for charity, as well as creating a multi-media experience from the twelve stories. Oh and the whole thing will be filmed as a documentary.
