A New Salem Witchcraft Series From The Creator Of Weeds And Orange Is The New Black
Jenji Kohan, who created Orange is the New Black and Weeds, is turning to witchcraft for her next TV series, according to THR.
The Salem-set untitled show is being developed for HBO, which means it'll probably be really violent and really sexy, and:
explores the circumstances surrounding one of the most compelling chapters in American history, when intolerance and repression set neighbor against neighbor and led a town to mass hysteria.
Kohan is writing the show with Bruce Miller and Tracy Miller and Lionsgate is producing it. They also produced Weeds.
Naturally, this is not the only series about witchcraft in the works. There's Witches of East End on Lifetime, but there's even another series also set in 17th Century Salem. It's called Salem and is the first scripted series from WGN America. So… I'm going to give the HBO series the edge on this one. For the sex and violence they'll be allowed to show alone, if nothing more.
