Archie Comics Registers New Trademarks For Raj Patel, Katy Keene and the Southside Serpents

Checking comic book publisher trademarks often reveals plans for new comic book series that the p[ublisher wishes to nail the trademark down on first.

Archie Comics is a publisher that loves their trademarks and has recently trademarked the following:

Archie Comics Registers New Trademarks For Raj Patel, Katy Keene and the Southside SerpentsRaj Patel, created by Fernando Ruiz in 2007, is a new student at Riverdale High who lives with his father Ravi, his mother Mona and his sister Tina. He befriended Archie after moving to town and first arrived in Tales From Riverdale Digest #21. Raj's favorite hobby is filmmaking. After Raj's introduction, he often appeared in daily newspaper strips as well.

Will he be getting his own series then?

Katy Keene first appeared in Wilbur Comics #5 in 1945 created by Bill Woggon as a model/actress/singer and had her own series that ran 12 years. She was revived in 1983 and then again in 2005 for Free Comic Book Day.

Will she be in Riverdale then?

The Southside Serpents first appeared in L'il Archie in 1959, created by Bob Bolling as a gang of kids opposed to the younger Archie and friends. They were reinvented for Riverdale as a proper gang, joined by Jughead and then Betty.
