David Mamet Developing 7 Deadly Sins Miniseries For Fox
With The Bible a massive hit, naturally more filmmakers are turning to biblical stories to develop for TV. Variety reports playwright David Mamet has closed a deal with Fox, Lionsgate TV and 20th Century Fox TV to develop a miniseries based on the seven deadly sins in Christianity.
Mamet will write and direct the first episode, and plans to write at least two more episodes of the seven-hour long mini. Naturally, one for each sin: wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy and gluttony:
The themes invoked by the seven deadly sins will serve as a backdrop of a series of interconnected stories the reflect on the human condition through Mamet's distinctive lens.
The project is in the early stages of development, but is part of Fox's longterm plan to offer more limited event series.
