QuoteWatch: "Squirrel Girl knows where to store your nuts" – Joe Quesada, speculating on the possibility Guardians Of The Galaxy/Avengers storyline with Rocket Raccoon and Squirrel Girl hooking up, Kapow, London.

MovieXWatch: The Kapow secret movie was Iron Sky. Looks like people walked out after queuing for ages… it does seem to have been rather divisive.

ArmyWatch: Books For Troops gets profiled by Times Union.

Troops in the field share the books and comics, said Keegan, a retired teacher of 28 years in south Troy. She plans to sneak in Time magazines and the swimsuit edition of Sports Illustrated among the comics. She does it to help those in uniform, and has grown attached to the feedback she receives in handwritten letters, typed notes and cards with pictures.

"You get attached to these guys," Keegan said. "With each thank you note we get more and more motivated and validated."

KidsWatch: ComicFest 2012 hit Durham County Library
Hansen was on a scholarly panel talking about comics – or, as he put it, "narrative sequential art" – at the Durham County Library's Southwest Branch on Sunday afternoon. It was the closing event of a two-day Comics Fest that included workshops on creating comics for kids and grownups, a talk by a best-selling author of graphic novels and the panel on which Duke and UNC scholars discussed comics' evolution and their recognition as cultural products deserving serious attention.
WatchWatch: Looks like Collider were also invited to the Before Watchmen viewing but only just got round to mentioning it.
I look at the new edition Rorschach and think – 'Azzarello's really nailed Moore's tone and voice.  Hell – this is a pretty damn good imitation of Rorschach.'  But that's all it is: an imitation. It talks the same, acts the same, looks the same – but it's not Moore's Rorschach.  Just a copy.  And I can't shake the feeling that Moore's already told this story and this character in the best manner possible; so any emulation just seems repetitive no matter how good.

They say I am a work in progress. The fools.

Ain't It Cool News: Quesada on Female-Lead Film

In a chat afterwards, Joe told me that he'd love to make a tentpole movie with a female lead, but that he really doesn't think there is an actress right now who could carry it, or a character that would work either. I'm thinking I might agree with him on this one actually.

Inside Pulse | Demythify: Where Have We Seen That Justice League #9 Batman Letter Before & What's It Signify?

Bruce Wayne Batman is gazing at a letter from a seemingly an unknown writer (if you didn't read Flashpoint). It is a passing panel in the Geoff Johns penned Justice League #9 and Bruce looks somber. The origins of that letter? Well, its a gift from Thomas Wayne, who was Batman on the Flashpoint Earth.
