New Sneaky Snaps From The Set Of Total Recall

It might not have Arnold Schwarzenegger or (other) triple-breasted women, but we now have evidence that the modes of a) fashion and b) transportation in next year's Total Recall remake are going to be pretty spiffy. Take a look at these on-set snaps despatched by Ain't It Cool, which feature mainly futuristic type cop cars and people in snazzed out uniforms.

I'll admit that I'm not overly familiar with the 1990 Paul Verhoeven and Arnold Schwarzenegger version, since I only saw bits of pieces of it on TV when I was much younger. All I can really remember is an awesome effect where people's eyes bug out and then their heads explode.

This was due to them staying out for too long in the crappy Mars atmosphere without a spacesuit, and since the remake doesn't take place on Mars I'm sad to say that the chances of us seeing that effect again are slim to none. Unless, I don't know, some Scanners show up.

Total Recall will feature Colin Farrell in the Schwarzenegger role of Doug Quaid, a factory work who begins to suspect that he's being used as a spy in a war between Earth's two reigning superpowers of Euromerica and New Shanghai. It's based on a short story by King of the Sci-Fi Novel, Philip K. Dick, called We Can Remember It For You Wholesale, which is a way better title than Total Recall. Why didn't they go back to that?

Len Wiseman is at the helm, and his previous directing credits include Underworld, Die Hard 4.0 and, um, the pilot episode of the reboot of Hawaii Five-O. Tubular.

Total Recall will be released in the UK on August 22nd 2012.
