Tuesday Trending Topics: Clothes Make The Superman
As I post this I'm watching @jimlee00 talk to fans about the costume redesigns of the DC relaunch, and the conversation seems to sum up a lot of today's BC trends — we care about fashion in our comics every bit as much as we care about it in real life. Today on BC we've had talk on costume details in merchandise, movies, and the comics themselves.
Googling to make sure I remember wtf I'm talking about, I see the original Mark Twain quote is "Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society." Definitely true in comics. A good costume is everything.

DC Comics To Keep Publishing 'Opportunities'
And there you were thinking you were reading comic books. Apparently not, according to this poster at the Licensing International Expo in Las Vegas, you're actually reading an oportunity. Note everyone still in the old costumes of course – why would you want to put the new Superman on a lollipop? We do like Batman's glowing gut though.

Bleeding Cool, amongst others, has reported on the seemingly shocking reduction in the proportion of female creators listed as working on the DC Relaunch books. Gail Simone is writing two titles and Jenny Frison is doing a cover. That's it. Both Marvel and DC have been increasing the amount and prominence of female comics creators of late but this suddenly seemed a step back.

Licensing Expo 2011 just opened in Las Vegas and attendee @theonlyesq has given us our first look at a promotional Avengers movie poster debuting there. Looks like a merchandising image rather than an actual movie poster, but a good look at characters and costumes for Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, Hulk, and Black Widow — and still very cool.
