Richard Littlejohn And The Daily Mail On Cosplay
Right-wing reactionary columnist Richard Littlejohn writes in the Daily Mail.
You've got to love this photo of a bunch of dopey birds dressed up as superhero characters for a cartoon convention.
They've obviously gone to a great deal of trouble. I especially like the woman who appears to have a tattoo of Elvis peeping over the top of her thigh-length boot.
The one in the Doc Martens seems to have modelled herself on the celebrity writer Caitlin Moran. Or, perhaps, Caitlyn Jenner.
One problem, though. I'm not sure whether to file this under Makes You Proud To Be British, Here We Go Looby Loo or Bring On The Oompa Loompas.
For some reason, the photo isn't online, but has been posted to Facebook.
And while commentators are rightly up in arms, there's even more to take offense at, in the original column. And frankly… it's Richard Littlejohn. What the hell do you expect? For the Americans commentating, he's as close to reality as Glenn Beck.
I mean, come on, "cartoon convention"? Even Richard Littlejohn should know better than that.
But also, for the Daily Mail sub editors… please stop stop using "is it a bird?". Why? Well, here are the last 1700 times you have.
