Runaways Return For Secret Wars From Noelle Stevenson And Sanford Greene – But Will They Stay?
We still hear great things about Iron Man 3 writer Drew Pierce's Runaways movie script sitting in a bottom drawer at Marvel Studios. But the comic created by Brian K Vaughan and Adrian Alphona and taken on by Joss Whedon about children who discover their parents are part of a major network of organised supercrime in the Marvel Universe hasn't been seen for a while, even as certain characters pop up in the likes of Avengers Arena.
Well, it's returning for Secret Wars. But will it remain?
CBR have been given the Marvel PR package for this one. And who better to write the Runaways than the co-creator of Lumberjanes, Noelle Stevenson, with X-artist Sanford Greene?
And a choice of realities gives us "teen" characters from all sorts of books, from Bucky Barnes to Jubilee to Ultimate Cloak And Dagger…
Most of the characters are established Marvel teens, but you'll find them a little different here. Although characters from many different teams will be represented here, this team is entirely its own, new thing and they'll all be called upon to play a role in it that they probably haven't before. I've been referring to them informally as The Breakfast Club, because they're a group who wouldn't necessarily choose to hang out with each other under normal circumstances — and actually outright hate each other in a few cases — but end up having to work together to survive and find out that they have more in common than they thought.
