So Why Another Zombie Comic?

Lost & Found by Lyndon White, 10/20/2014 – 11/19/2014, published – End of January 2015

Lyndon White writes,

I'm Lyndon White, the creator of Lost & Found. I recently launched a Kickstarter to raise funds for a print run of my new zombie comic.

Lost & Found is a 32 page stylised, horror comic about a man searching for his daughter, in a city infested with the undead.

So, why another zombie comic? Whats making this different to the other zombie stories out there? To the core it's the story and the stylisation of the artwork. There are the elements of the surviving the apocalypse and scavenging for supplies but Lost & Found is a more human story wrapped around all that zombie goodness that we all love. The heart of it all is the relationship between Michael and his daughter Sarah. How these characters have changed in this world but without dehumanising them.

Then there's the artwork. For myself I like a bit more characterisation in my zombies. Impressions of what they were before they turned. Less mass civilian crowd scenes and more individual zombies – fireman, policeman, butchers, paramedics, cheerleaders, general professional stereotypes. All of which is drawn in pencil and ink so the artwork becomes quite sketchy. This matches the tone of the story and really brings out the grittiness of the zombies.

There is a hint of colour on the pages, which are droplets of red ink. These were layered on the artwork quite thick, so you get transparent but layered splatters. The droplets give the impression of blood being dripped directly on to the page. So when a character is in danger and the swarms starts building the droplets will become more intense.

The Kickstarter is currently at 88% (this might change before this goes live) and there's still over 2 weeks remaining. However, if we reach 100% this weekend everyone who pledges 'The SURVIVOR PACK' and above (this is a copy of the comic + postage to the UK at £6) will get a free postcard (crowd Woo's all around). This is something to say thank you to everyone who has supported the campaign before we go into the exciting stretch gaols that I've got lined up.

So if you comics or/and zombies please take a look. Like it, share it, tweet it, tell your cat about it!
