Yesterday at the London Film And Comic Con held in Kensington Olympia, Steve McManus was inducted into the LFCC Hall Of Fame, by Comic Fest organiser Tony Lee. Steve McManus is best known as a longstanding 2000AD editor. Starting work in 1973 as a sub-editor of the Valiant comic, he moved to Battle Picture Weekly, freelanced on Action, moved to Starlord, and then became a sub-editor on 2000 AD, replacing Nick Landau, who had moved to Battle. In 1979 he was promoted to editor of 2000 AD, a job he held until 1986, hiring the likes of Alan Moore, Peter Milligan and Grant Morrison as well as co-creating Rogue Trooper, alongside Gerry Finley-Day and Dave Gibbons. He launched Crisis, a political activist comic which introduced Garth Ennis, John Smith, Sean Phillips and Duncan Fegredo, quitting over clashes with his new boss Robert Maxwell. He later founded and edited Judge Dredd Megazine, and co-edited the Batman/Judge Dredd crossover Judgement on Gotham with DC Comics' Denny O'Neil. In 1995 he became Managing Editor of the Pre-School Group of Fleetway's new owners Egmont, editing Sonic the Comic and overseeing titles such as Toxic and Ben 10. After Egmont sold 2000 AD to Rebellion Developments in 2000, MacManus moved out of comics and into Egmont's magazine editorial, eventually retiring in 2011.

He was joined in this honour of the LFCC Hall Of Fame by Jessica Martin for her media work. As an actor, she is best known at shows for playing Mags in Doctor Who: The Greatest Show In The Galaxy alongside Sylvester McCoy, a role she has reprised more recently for the Big Finish audio dramas. She also worked considerably as an impressionist on shows such as Spitting Image, Copy Cats and Bobby Davro. Still treading the boards in plays such as Me And My Girl, Sweeney Todd, Sunset Boulevard and Spamalot, she is also a graphic novelist, writing and drawing her own comics and working with Mark Buckingham,
