Superman: Man Of Tomorrow #1, The Coincidental Coronavirus Comic
The first issue of the Superman: Man Of Tomorrow Digital First (but previously seen in Walmart's Superman Giant) comic has a classic Superman set up, in this time of lockdown. None of this telling the world about his secret identity and everyone knowing about Lois and Clark. This Superman still has to change in telephone booths, having to rip his shirt buttons off to reveal his Superman shield. Which, it seems, has its own cost.
But amongst big fights with aliens and whatnot, Superman: Man Of Tomorrow seems to reflect the present, with a Metropolis not so much in lockdown but in blackout. Which seems to raise similar concerns, all it's missing is toilet paper and hand sanitiser.
With Superman being the big inspiring voice, and a message that seems to coincidentally resonate with everyone at this time.
Just remember to clap at 7pm, Metropolis citizens. It will generate the best of headlines. Even a bit of goodwill.
Of course, there's always someone else, a businessman with political ties and his name on a big tower who gets fed up of being misrepresented and ridiculed by the media – or worse, ignored, and wants everyone to know that he did was doing the right thing, far more than anyone else and definitely didn't ignore threats of the blackout for months and will probably just end up blaming it on China.
Maybe he could have got the Parasite to inject some disinfectant, Superman: Man Of Tomorrow #1 by Robert Venditti and Paul Pellettier, and available now.
