  • Local Comic Shop Day will offer a new collected edition of The Beauty, ahead of the upcoming FX adaptation

As Bleeding Cool scooped back in March, word coming out of ComicsPRO's Annual Industry Conference was that Image Comics series, The Beauty, was going to be moving over to Ignition Press to coincide with the upcoming Ryan Murphy helmed adaptation on FX. Late Wednesday, the new publisher finally confirmed the news officially as part of their Ignition Sequence: SDCC promotional initiative. A couple of weeks ago, we also reported that Ignition Press would be participating in Local Comic Shop Day with an exclusive collected edition of their repackaging of the entire original series in three new volumes.

The press release did confirm some information we did not have like that one of our favourite artists, Ema Lupacchino, would be joining co-creators and co-writers Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley on the new series. And that fans that come by the Ignition Press Room, the publisher's boutique pop-up in the Gaslamp District, during Comic Con International in San Diego will be able to get a special sneak peek of the new series. And as they've been doing thus far with all of their debut series, Ignition will have new merchandise in the form of an art print and premium T-shirt both featuring art by Haun, two types of enamel pins, and a branded condom for those looking to avoid contracting The Beauty. And we're hearing that this isn't the last of The Beauty-related announcements Ignition has planned…

This announcement on the heels of Tim Seeley and Stefano Simeone's NO Place whose move to Ignition Press we also scooped and the Leah Williams and David Baldeón Voyeur-inspired burlesque show. With six more announcements planned in Ignition Sequence: SDCC, it wouldn't be surprising to see another one drop today. Perhaps another new series or two? A surprise creator announcement? Yet unrevealed events at the Ignition Press Room?

Ignition Sequence: SDCC – Publisher Releases Local Comic Shop Day Edition Ahead of FX Show
Los Angeles, CA (July 2, 2025) – Fan favorite sci-fi thriller The Beauty returns with a brand-new

details, and the remainder of the creative team will be revealed at a later date. The Beauty
previously ran as a comic series for 30 issues from 2015 until 2021 at Image Comics.
"I love stories having an ending. Even more than that, I love realizing that there are still more
stories to tell– things that need to be said. Hurley and I finished the original series of The Beauty
exactly as we planned…and then spent the next few years wanting to do more," said co-creator
and writer Jeremy Haun. "And this time, we're joined by the absolutely brilliant Ema Lupacchino.
The Beauty has never looked better!"
Ahead of the series and the debut of the Ryan Murphy television adaptation of The Beauty this
fall, Ignition Press will release The Beauty Book One exclusively in comics shops for Local Comic
Shop Day on September 27th, 2025. At a value priced $19.99, fans can relive the first spellbinding
story arc of The Beauty, as well as a selection of stories that expands the world. The first of three
all-new editions collecting the entire original series, this volume includes the first eleven issues,
co-written by series creators Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley, with art by Haun, Mike
Huddleston, Brett Weldele, and Stephen Green.
"This new series gives us the opportunity to explore aspects of The Beauty, the physiological
changes it makes to the body, we never touched on the first time around. It's great to be able to
play around in the world we created again," added co-creator and writer Jason A. Hurley.
Fans attending Comic Con International in San Diego can get a special sneak peek at The Beauty
by visiting the Ignition Press Room in the Gaslamp District (643 G Street). Additionally, Ignition

"The art and storytelling on this new series has the challenge of making the reader feel the dual
nature of The Beauty: the good, pleasant appearance… and the dark side of it," explained Ema
Lupacchino. "I'm exploring a new visual storytelling approach, and the color too will be a
fundamental tool, that combine to create that feeling in the reader's experience."
