The week in Comica, Britain's leading comics festival, continues from Monday… after Thought Bubble has finished, naturally.

Comics: Refreshing Parts Other Literature Can't Reach! Graphic novelist and Booktrust online writer in residence Hannah Berry (above), author of the Jonathan Cape graphic novels Britten and Brulightly, Adamtine, invites you to try a comic or two on for size. For this extra special evening curated by Hannah Berry, Comica Festival and Book Trust combine forces to present two hours and two panels hosted by Hannah and Paul Gravett in conversation with some of the country's best graphic novelists.

These include Glyn Dillon (The Nao of Brown), Karrie Fransman (The House That Groaned), Rian Hughes (Yesterday's Tomorrows, On The Line), Simone Lia (Fluffy, Please God, Find Me A Husband), Sarah McIntyre (Vern and Lettuce, Nelson, Airship) and Dave McKean (Cages, Celluloid, Pictures That Tick) and a special appearance by Posy Simmonds (Gemma Bovery, Tamara Drewe).

The home of the 'Culture of Comics' is Gosh! Comics in Soho, so where better to host the launch party, signing and bookplate for Krent Able's Book of Mischief. This handsome Knockabout edition gathers Krent's viscerally satirical celebrity skewerings as seen in the smudgy pages of The Stool Pigeon. Gasp and guffaw as Lou Reed has some trouble with monkeys, Johnny Cash has some drug-related impotence issues, Kraftwerk get shrunk, and Satan crushes Lilly Allen.After the book signings and limited edition bookplate, the launch evening drags on (sorry, pun intended) nearby at Madame JoJo's, 8-10 Brewer Street with a Club Night where Krent will be dee-jaying alongside guest bands and everyone can misbehave like celebrities off their leashes. Bring your copy of his book and save £2 on entry!

Come along for a night of drinks and discussion with the legendary Playboy Magazine artist Doug Sneyd, in conversation with Jason Atomic and moderated by Chris Thompson.

Make Mine Manga!: Free Japanese Comics & Cosplay Party

The Week In Comica
The much-loved German artist Christina Plaka, famed for her series Prussian Blue and Yonen Buzz (above) is currently exhibiting her comics artwork at the Goethe-Institut's Comics, Manga & Co. show in London. She is coming over specially to meets for the first time her great British counterpart Emma Vieceli (Manga Shakespeare, Vampire Academy, Avalon Chronicles) (below).

Christina and Emma will share their passions for creating manga and to draw their characters together 'live' on a projection screen. They will be joined by talented cosplayers, by special invitation, whose costumes are inspired by some of the realistic and fantastical British and German characters who have appeared in Japanese comics and animation. Why not come to our party in costume yourself?

So you devoured The Rabbi's Cat, Little Vampire or Klezmer? You loved the Gainsbourg movie? Come and listen to the extraordinarily gifted jack-of-all-trades artist Joann Sfar. As part of a stimulating conversation with Paul Gravett (co-director of Comica Festival), Joann Sfar will talk about his influences and inspirations, with a great deal of passion… and tongue in cheek!This event for 'grown ups' is in association with the Institut Français, London and is part of the South Ken Kids Festival at this venue on November 23rd to 25th. Don't miss the other events – Sfar will also talk and draw with his hero Quentin Blake, and join other guests including BD creator Emile Bravo. Photo © Arte.
