Wendell Carter Jr Vs. Jaren Jackson Jr Vs. Marvel Comics Over "Block Panther" Trademark

Wendell Carter Jr. is a basketball player for The Chicago Bulls. Jaren Jackson Jr. is a basketball player for the Memphis Grizzlies. They're the same age, the same draft class, they were both lottery picks in the same 2018 draft, they're about the same height and weight.  JJJ is considered the slightly better player so far.

Both have been using the nickname of "The Block Panther". Wendell seems to have the better, earlier claim and after all, does turn up on court like this. Which is from where the nickname originated.

But JJJ it seems has taken this further and has registered a trademark for the name 'The Block Panther' under goods and services: Backpacks, Clothing, namely, hats, t-shirts, sweatshirts, and jackets,Toy action figures; toy cars; basketball-related toys, namely, basketball tabletop games, desktop toy sports games, action skill games, basketballs, bobblehead dolls, and toy backboards, hoops, and nets

But it's not Wendell he has to worry about, regarding that trademark, It's Marvel Comics. Marvel has made the US government aware of their likelihood of challenging this trademark and have asked for three months additional time to put together a case, which has been granted.

The ball's in Marvel's court now…
